Dover plant splits Energizer, personal care units

DOVER — Edgewell Personal Care Operations now will operate as a standalone business following the separation of Energizer’s Household Products and Personal Care businesses.

The plant, at 804 Walker Road, previously was known as Energizer Holdings Inc. after it consolidated with the Playtex Energizer Personal Care facility last year.

“Splitting the household and personal care businesses created greater opportunity to streamline operations and focus on our core business of personal care,” said Lauren Medina, corporate communications manager of Edgewell Personal Care.

“The household unit retained the Energizer name, as Energizer is one of their key brands, and we created the Edgewell brand to align with our products and business strategy.”

Edgewell Personal Care manufactures and markets a range of personal care products in the wet shave, skin care, feminine care and infant care categories with established brand names such as Schick and Wilkinson Sword men’s and women’s shaving systems and disposable razors; Edge and Skintimate shave preparations; Playtex, Stayfree, Carefree and o.b. feminine care products; Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic sun care products; Playtex infant feeding, Diaper Genie and gloves; and Wet Ones moist wipes.

“This is a historic day for Edgewell,” said David Hatfield, Edgewell chief executive officer. “The completion of the separation provides us with the opportunity to focus on our core strengths across all business units.

“We are excited about Edgewell’s prospects, as we leverage our strong brands and build upon leading positions across various categories.”

He said the company, since it now is dedicated to personal care, will focus on accelerating growth and emphasize innovation.

“Backed by our experienced and passionate Edgewell colleagues,” he said. “I am confident that we will position our business for long-term success, and continue to deliver enhanced value for shareholders.”
