New Business: Developers consider expanding McGinnis Green shopping center

DOVER — Nearly a year after the completion of the 22,000-square-foot McGinnis Green shopping center at the intersection of Jerome Drive and Del. 13 north of Dover, the building is almost fully rented.

“We’ve just signed contracts with Domino’s Pizza, an Allstate office and Miracle-Ear (a hearing aid retailer),” said Charles Rodriguez of R&R Commercial Realty, the leasing broker for the project. “We’re in talks right now with another restaurant for about 2,500 square feet but we’re getting close to 100 percent occupancy.”

The site plan for the McGinnis Green shopping center includes two more potential building sites farther west, closer to U.S. 13. Mr. Rodriguez noted the completion of the site plan is a possibility.

“The building of the two other lots will probably happen a bit further down the road, but we’re not sure yet,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of interest in the site, but the developers want to finish the first building entirely and get it fully rented. It’s a great location with lots of traffic, and Walmart does particularly well there.”
