DOVER — LongHorn Steakhouse will officially open its newest location in Dover on May 1 at 3 p.m. for dinner, according to the restaurant’s owners. The new location in the Capital Commons shopping center at 505 N. DuPont Highway will the being normal hours the following day.

“We identified Dover and the Capital Commons shopping center as a great place to open a new restaurant, with long-term growth potential,” said managing partner Ray Nash. “We’ve received outstanding support from the community, and are looking forward to getting to know each of our guests. We’re very happy to be opening the second LongHorn Steakhouse in the state of Delaware right here in Dover.”

To celebrate the opening, the restaurant will host a “lasso cutting” ceremony next Tuesday at 2 p.m. in with the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce. During the event, the restaurant team will select one guest to mark the opening moment by making the first steak cut, said organizers.

The newly constructed building is 5,842 square feet, will host up to 200 guests and create around 80 new jobs.

Management also noted that the new restaurant will participate in the “LongHorn Harvest program” and will donate unused food to a local food bank each week in Dover.
