DOVER — Residents will benefit from individualized therapy when PAM Rehabilitation Hospital of Dover opens late this year, said Post Acute Medical, LLC in a statement.

The 34-bed medical rehabilitation hospital is under construction on 1240 McKee Road in Dover, and is expected to open in December.

An affiliate of Post Acute Medical LLC, a group based in Enola, Pennsylvania, the freestanding medical rehabilitation hospital will feature a physician-led team of rehabilitation specialists focused on increasing patient strength and endurance and improving quality of life.

“The higher level of hospital care provided in the acute rehabilitation setting cannot be found at other levels of care, such as nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities,” Ted Werner, Post Acute Medical’s CEO said.

“We provide one-on-one individualized therapy five to seven days a week, daily medical visits by a physician and a nurse patient ratio that contributes to the highest quality of care.”

A physician specifically trained in medical rehabilitation will direct the programs for patients who have experienced stroke, brain injury, neurological disease and deficits, amputations, pulmonary disease, orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injury and medically complex conditions. Features of the new rehabilitation hospital will include:

•34 private rooms with accessible private showers

•Inpatient and outpatient therapy gyms, as well as an offsite outpatient location

•Fully functioning training kitchen, bathroom and laundry suite

•Therapeutic outdoor walking and mobility garden

•Rooms specially equipped with lift track to assist with mobility
