SMYRNA — The owners of the Green Stinger near Woodside, father and son duo both named Paul Casarotto and John Jilek, decided after three years of running the pub that it’s time to open a second location.

“In the three years we’ve owned the location in Woodside, we’ve increased sales by over 100 percent,” said the younger Mr. Casarotto. “We saw that the old Sportzone location in Smyrna was available and figured it’d be a perfect opportunity to expand.”

At around 4,000 square feet — double the size of their Woodside location — the Smyrna Green Stinger location on 235 Stadium Street is roughly three weeks away from opening, added Mr. Casarotto.

“We’ve repainted everything, and all the hardwood flooring is new throughout,” he said. “We’ve put in new tables, chairs and furniture in addition to lots of new equipment in the kitchen. The cleaning was extensive.”

The owners feel that Smyrna is an ideal location and the level of interest is high.

“We were blown away by the amount of attention we’ve been getting on Facebook, and we have people driving by every day to check if we’re open yet,” said Mr. Casarotto.

Like their first location, the new one will be a full-service sports bar with a pub cuisine menu and live music on the weekends.

“We’re known for our stuffed burgers — there’s 27 different types to choose from on our menu,” said Mr. Casarotto. “People also really like our wings because we do both a regular size and jumbo.”

The new location features 27 wide-screen TVs that will show most major sporting events around the year.

“At the start we’ll probably hold off, but longer term we’re exploring the option of introducing sports betting as well,” said Mr. Casarotto.

Mr. Casarotto estimates that the new location will employ about 25-35 people. The Woodside location currently has 15 employees.
