DOVER — Though it’s literally across the street from his current location, Vincenzo “Vinny” Maddalena, believes moving into the building at 1035 Forrest Ave. in Dover (formerly a TD Bank) will be a vast improvement for Vincenzo’s Pizzeria & Gelato.

The self-described “Italian fine dining/pizzeria all in one” currently resides at 1030 Forrest Ave. in the Gateway West Shopping Center next to the Food Lion. Mr. Maddalena says the new location will offer more visibility, about 1,200 more square feet and more parking.

“The new location is going to be a great move for us,” he said. “We’ll have a bigger dining room and we’ll be able to have two separate party rooms instead of just the one we have right now. And, it’s out in the open, so much better than in this corner we’re in now. It’s really uncommon for a bank to have 45 parking spots, but that’s what they had and that’ll work out great for us.”

Obtaining all the permits needed for renovation work last Friday, Mr. Maddalena believes work will begin on converting the former bank into a restaurant later this week.

Once work has started, he says the project is estimated to take from 60 to 90 days to complete.

Though the restaurant’s interior will change significantly, Mr. Maddalena says customers can expect the same menu.

“We have something for everyone,” he said. “If you want sea bass or braised veal osso buco — or even baked ziti or pizza, we have it all.”

Additionally, Mr. Maddalena notes that up to 30 percent of his business is in local catering.
