REHOBOTH BEACH — After 22 years, the original Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats pub is scheduled for demolition today. There will be an excavator on site at the pub and the demo will begin at the front of the building. Both Chesapeake & Maine and the new Brewings & Eats will remain open during construction, according to a Dogfish Head spokesperson.

The old pub originated as the smallest commercial brewery in the United States in 1996. This May, a new Brewings & Eats opened adjacent to the old building. The original pub will be torn down to make way for a new courtyard tentatively planned to open next spring.

Demolition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on 320 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth Beach.
