DOVER — The Best Friends® Pet Expo is returning for its fourth year to The Green in Historic Downtown Dover. The event, presented by the Delaware State News, will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A day of fun is planned for pet owners and their families, both two-legged and four-legged. There will be vendors, presentations, giveaways, door prizes and several special happenings at this year’s expo.

At 10:30 a.m. The Kritter Sitter Pet Parade will step off from in front of the historic Golden Fleece Tavern and continue around The Green with pet participants strutting their stuff. Some pets will be in costume, but all are welcome to participate whether they are wearing a costume or not.

There will be prizes for the costumed winners of the single and group entries, and all participants will receive a certificate and special treat from event sponsor The Kritter Sitter. Be sure to preregister for the pet parade on the event website www.DelmarvaEvents.net.

The Delaware State News is also pleased to have 92.9 TOM-FM as part of the fun at this year’s Pet Expo. On-air personality Kathryn Alt will be there broadcasting live and playing music throughout the day. She’ll have a pet selfie station at her booth and be handing out treats to all the pets.

Gene Thornton and Dolly demonstrate dog-walking techniques at last year’s Pet Expo on The Green.

There will be several presenters sharing their expertise during the expo: event sponsor Fur Baby Pet Resort will talk about implementing fresh food into your pet’s diets, and Hempworx will present information on the benefit of CBD oil for your pets. In addition, Gene Thornton and her award-winning Vizsla Dolly will be demonstrating “The Reinforcement Zone: The Positive Way To Keep Your Dog At Your Side.” Then, Susan Schmidhauser from Pinewood Kennels LLC will have a dog agility demonstration.

The First State Animal Center and SPCA is returning this year as the charitable fundraising partner. They will have pets available for adoption and lots of other information available about their services including grooming, boarding and daycare.

Lunch will be available for purchase from Chick-fil-A North Dover.

Leashed pets are welcome. Admission is free for attendees. You can get more information about the event on the Delaware State News Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DelawareStateNews/events or online at www.DelamrvaEvents.net.
