DOVER — The Delaware Friends of Folk, in partnership with the First State Heritage Park, will continue its Winter Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Friday inside the Old State House on The Green.

This month’s concert will feature Mike Plunkett performing “Civil War Songs and Stories of the Irish Brigade.”

A Civil War-period musician, Mr, Plunkett has tediously researched the personal accounts, stories and songs of the Irish Brigade and has developed a one-man show, “Paddy Has Gone for a Soldier,” which he has performed, in uniform, at concerts, workshops and a host of other events.

The songs range from old Irish ballads to Civil War era songs, many of which are based on old Irish melodies. The stories are drawn from research into the daily lives of Irish-American soldiers and reveal the experiences of a typical soldier.

Admission is free. This concert is free to the public, thanks to a grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts.
