DOVER – Grammy-nominated R&B singer Freddie Jackson will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Friday, Feb. 17 at 9 p.m.

Mr. Jackson, ranked among Billboard’s top 20 R&B recording artists in the 1980s and 1990s, has recorded 12 Billboard No. 1 hits, has had 30 of his singles hit the charts and sold more than 50 million albums.

Among Mr. Jackson’s memorable hits are “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake),” “Jam Tonight,” “Do Me Again,” “You Are My Lady,” “Love Is Just a Touch Away,” “Just Like The First Time,” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody.”

In 1985, Jackson was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best R&B Vocal Performance – Male for “You Are My Lady.”

From the mid-1980s through 1990, Jackson had four straight albums reach No. 1 on the U.S. R&B charts, including “Rock Me Tonight,” “Just Like the First Time,” “Don’t Let Love Slip Away,” and “Do Me Again.” Mr. Jackson’s latest album “For You” was released in 2010.

Mr. Jackson’s start came as a gospel singer in his Harlem, N.Y., church before he was discovered by singer Melba Moore while performing in a New York nightclub. He was a backup vocalist for Moore before embarking on a solo career. He also works closely with several charitable organizations involving children and battered women.
