R&B’s Gill, country’s Atkins to play downstate Delaware in 2019

Two area concerts for 2019 were announced today.

Two-time Grammy Award R&B nominee Johnny Gill will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center on Friday, March 15 at 9 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale at noon on Tuesday and can be purchased at doverdowns.com. Prices range from $40-$60.
Mr. Gill, a Washington D.C. native, has had a successful solo career, in addition to his time with three R&B groups, including New Edition, L.S.G. and Heads of State.

“If It Isn’t Love,” a New Edition hit from 1988, was Grammy nominated for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group. Mr. Gill’s other Grammy nomination came in 1991 for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance for his self-titled solo album.

Among Mr. Gill’s hit songs are “My, My, My,” “Rub You The Right Way,” “Where Do We Go From Here,” “Perfect Combination,” “Boys To Men,” “Can You Stand The Rain,” “My Body,” and the wedding classic “You For Me,” which was featured in the movie “Madea’s Family Reunion.”

Mr. Gill’s latest album “Game Changer,” featuring the hit song “This One’s For Me & You,” was in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top 10 R&B charts for four weeks.

Both as a solo artist and with New Edition, Mr. Gill has performed worldwide, including Europe, South Africa and Japan, and embarked on a 30-city U.S. tour last year. Also in 2017, New Edition was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Also announced today, country star Rodney Atkins will perform at Harrington Raceway and Casino’s Exhibit Hall on Saturday, March 30 as part of the Live On Stage series line-up.

Mr. Atkins has had six No. 1 hits and has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

His hits include “Take A Back Road,” “It’s America,” “Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy),” “These Are My People,” “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows)” and “Watching You.”

Tickets are $44 for the 8 p.m. show and will go on sale Thursday at noon. They can be purchased online at www.harringtonraceway.com, by calling 888-887-5687, Ext. 5246 or stopping by the Casino Gift Shop. All ages are welcome.
