Mr. Daigle and his husband, Dan Cole, were the first same-sex couple to marry in Delaware.

Same-sex marriage was approved by the state legislature in 2013.

Mr. Daigle, an analyst with JPMorgan Chase & Co., said in a press release he intends to run on a campaign of creating greater financial stability.

“I am excited to embark on a campaign to bring out the best of our community,” he said. “From Claymont, the Ardens and to the suburbs, I will put the 7th District first. Together, I know that we can achieve great things.”

He served as president of the Barbara Gittings Delaware Stonewall Democrats. Prior to that, he was vice president for Political Action, which lobbied for same-sex marriage and gender discrimination protections.

Current officeholder Rep. Bryon Short, a Democrat, is running for the U.S. House.

Robert Cameron and David Brady, both Democrats, have also filed for the seat.
