Delaware House committees feature few changes

DOVER — House committee assignments for the 149th General Assembly were announced Wednesday. They include minor changes, such as Reps. Mike Ramone, R-Pike Creek Valley, and Joe Miro, R-Pike Creek Valley, switching seats on the money committees.

Rep. Ramone moves to the Joint Finance Committee, while Rep. Miro will now sit on the Bond Committee.

Rep. Miro had served on JFC since 2007.

Those are the only changes to the money committees.

Rep. David Bentz, D-Newark, replaces Rep. Debra Heffernan, D-Bellefonte, as chair of the House Health & Human Development Committee, Rep. Gerald Brady, D-Wilmington, takes the spot held by Rep. Andria Bennett, D-Dover, as head of the House Telecommunication Internet & Technology Committee and Rep. Stephanie Bolden, D-Wilmington, takes over for Rep. Brady as the House chair of the Joint Sunset Committee.

House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, said there is a four-year rule for anyone serving as chair of the Sunset Committee, necessitating someone else take over this year.

Reps. Melanie George Smith, D-Bear, and Quinn Johnson, D-Middletown, remain as the House chairs of the powerful Finance and Bond committees, respectively,

Reps. Brady, Sean Matthews, D-Talleyville, and J.J. Johnson, D-New Castle, each serve on nine committees.

Senate assignments will be announced Jan. 10, the day the legislature convenes.
