SEAFORD — Nanticoke Health Services is again joining forces with the Western Sussex Chamber of Commerce and the city of Seaford to promote women’s health awareness at the fifth annual Live for Chocolate on Friday, May 4, from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Seaford. The event will include food, games, education, shopping, music and more. Proceeds from fundraising portions of the event help will pay for mammograms for women in Western Sussex County who cannot afford one.

The event will feature a free scavenger hunt through downtown Seaford and just across the bridge in Blades. Between 5-8:30 p.m., hunt through local businesses to find clues to solve your puzzle. Each stop will feature a free sample of a chocolate treat. Scavenger hunt maps and puzzle pickup locations will be published on the event website (www.nanticoke.org/liveforchocolate) before the event.

After receiving a stamp from each clue stop and answering the puzzle, completed entries must be in the door prize box located under the DJ tent at the corner of Spring and High streets no later than 8:30 p.m. for a chance to win one of more than 35 prizes. Prizes will be drawn beginning at 8:30 p.m. You do not have to be present to win, but you must be 18 years or older.

This year’s event will also feature the following activities:

•Mel’s Race for a Cure: This high heel race begins in front of City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Held in honor of Melody Booker-Wilkins, this fun relay race features teams of local male celebrities navigating an obstacle course in women’s heels. This activity is free to watch, but you can also support the cause by voting on a winning team by purchasing a sleeve of vote tickets at Linda Vista Real Estate or Gateway Park. With your tickets, cast votes for the team(s) you believe will win! Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and will also be available for sale online before the event. One lucky winner will be drawn from the winning team’s basket for a special prize.

•Duck Dip at Gateway Park: During the evening, stop by Gateway Park and purchase a duck to float in the fountain in honor or memory of someone your love, or float a duck just because! Ducks will be on sale for $5 each. At 8 p.m., they will dip a duck for a gift certificate from the Day Spa at the Marina.

•Memory Wall at Gateway Park and Preston Drive to Inspire Truck at the Foundation Parking Lot: These are both free to everyone to stop by and sign!

Many vendors will sell gifts, jewelry, and items for the home at the Nanticoke River Yacht Club in Blades and at some of the clue stops. Transportation will be offered between Blades and Seaford by buses at marked bus stops.

City Hall will feature many activities and treats located both inside and outside including complimentary snacks and a chocolate fountain hosted by Sweet Serenity Chocolates and Desserts, Survivor Sashes provided by Spicer Brothers Construction, and women’s health education. Food will be available for purchase by food vendors that will be listed on the event map.

For the gentlemen who come with their wives or significant others, The Man Cave will again be available and feature free beer tastings from 3rd Wave Brewing Company. Location will be announced closer to the even.
