22 arrested in police ‘enforcement blitz’ in Kent

KENT COUNTY — Describing an early week operation as an “enforcement blitz” authorities announced the arrest of 22 persons on criminal charges Wednesday.

On Monday, eight law enforcement agencies conducted a coordinated effort throughout Kent County, which resulted in 13 felony arrests, 42 misdemeanor arrests and 48 capiases for wanted persons cleared. Also, 23 traffic citations were issued.

Eleven suspects were jailed, police said

Delaware State Police said the areas of Alder Park Apartments, Pine Grove Apartments and Rodney Village in Dover were identified as having ongoing criminal activity, along with Meadowbrook Acres, Paris Villa and London Village in Magnolia.

According to authorities, $2,407 in suspected drug dealing proceeds and 3.86 grams of crack cocaine were seized.

When the operation ended, the Delaware State Police Mounted Patrol and Community Outreach Unit “returned to the identified communities to engage the residents and inform them of the positive and proactive measures that were taken in an effort to combat crime,” according to Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe in a news release.

“The goal of this outreach effort was to demonstrate the commitment that the police have in making their communities safer while building trustworthy relationships.”

Also taking part were the Dover Police Department, Milford Police Department, Smyrna Police Department, Capital Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force and Probation and Parole.
