Annual Girls Night Out event highlights Marvelous Men of Milford

The Marvelous Men of Milford will strut their stuff with eager bidders waiting for the chance to prove just how much they like the show.

Benefiting People’s Place and hosted by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford, the annual Girls Night Out event is chock full of fun, food and entertainment.

“The best way to describe Girls Night Out is unique, fun and rewarding. It’s unique as we have several things going on at the same time; we auction off local business men, offer free food from local restaurants and caterers, offer free keepsake photos from CM Baker Photography’s Photo Booth, offer dancing from live band Plead the 5th, dancing from Cool 101.3 Radio Personality Dana McDonald, a Marvelous Chances Auction (lots of amazing things to bid on) and every ticket holder has a reserved seat,” CCGM Executive Director Jo Schmeiser said.

The chamber has a history of teaming with member community organizations to raise funds for local needs like the programs offered at People’s Place.

“People’s Place has been a longstanding member of the chamber, and when we were looking to change things up a bit including a change in the non-profit receiving a portion of the proceeds, the folks at People’s Place were really interested. . .” she added. “Several years ago, People’s Place received a portion of the proceeds from the Holiday Auction and Tastes of Milford event we host in November.  They received $3,000 from that event and have received $14,200 from Girls Night Out for the last three years. Although we’re a non-profit also, and it’s very uncommon for a chamber of commerce to donate back to other non-profits (other than scholarships), we find it a great opportunity to work with our local non-profits to provide them with a lot of extra exposure for their organization and the services they provide.”

The marvelous men, who have not been announced as of yet, work hard during the event to entice participants and encourage them to donate to the cause. Before the event, the marvelous men solicit sponsorships, help sell event and raffle tickets and recruit people to attend and bid on them during the evening.

Mr. Monz of Cool 101.3 said, “I loved being a part of the Marvelous Men of Milford. What a fun time. It gives you an opportunity to be a rock star for a night. And for a great cause. Most guys never get to experience the thrill of having a room full of women screaming and cheering for them. Such a blast.”

Participants also will enjoy tastings from Etta’s Catering, Mr. Bar-B-Que, the Milford Senior Center, Delmarva Popcorn, Country Cupcakes and Performance Food Group.

“My experience as a contestant in the 2018 Ladies night out event was that the event was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the evening. The comedy, laughter, and food proved for a great and entertaining night,” Glenn Larson, owner of Larson’s Mower Shop in Lincoln, said. “It seemed like the crowd was engaged, and everyone was having a great time.”

At $30 each, tickets include a seat at the event, a keepsake photo by C.M. Baker Photography, refreshments, games and entertainment. They can be purchased by calling 302-422-3344 or visiting www.milfordchamber.com.
