Body found near Lincoln; death investigation launched

LINCOLN – Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a deceased person today along a roadway near Lincoln.

No specific information was given pertaining to the body found along Fleatown Road shortly after noon Wednesday.

The body will be turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, said state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe. 

The identity was not immediately known.

The investigation is in its early stages. Additional information will be released as it becomes available, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Fleatown Road between E. Holly Drive and Clendaniel Pond Road were closed as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.
