DOVER — The body of a missing Wesley College student was found in Dover’s Silver Lake, Dover Police Department officials said Sunday evening.

Erick Acevedo-Palencia

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the body of 21-year-old Erick Acevedo-Palencia was discovered near the shore line of Lake Club Apartments by a citizen at approximately 9:10 Sunday morning.

The Dover Fire Department helped to remove him from the lake.

Mr. Acevedo-Palencia was reported missing after he was last seen leaving a Wesley College dorm on Feb. 12. The Dover Police Department had issued a Gold Alert for him based on information they had obtained following his disappearance.

He had a residence in Wilmington as well.

During the investigation, it was learned that Mr. Acevedo-Palencia made statements to others that caused concern for his health and safety, prompting the Gold Alert.
