Bridgeville shootings could be connected

BRIDGEVILLE — Two separate shooting incidents — one with injuries — in close proximity last weekend left investigators considering all possibilities, including that they may be connected.

Shots fired south of Bridgeville were reported within about 21 hours of each other and roughly a mile apart, one on Coverdale Road and the other in the unit block of Mill Park, authorities said.

According to Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Bratz, Mill Park residents called authorities Sunday to report that shots were fired the previous night at approximately 8:30 p.m. A fight was heard just before the shots were fired.

A 37-year-old man and 33-year-old woman found that their home had been struck by the apparent gunfire. No injuries were reported.

In the second incident at approximately 5:44 p.m. Sunday, two people suffered non-life threatening injuries when multiple rounds were triggered into their vehicle heading south on Coverdale Road north of Hastings Farm Road. The vehicle crashed as a suspect fled and a 35-year-old male driver and a 35-year-old female passenger were transported to a local hospital, police said.

No suspect information was immediately developed in either case, police said.

DSP asks anyone with information to call Detective C. Simpson at 752-3855. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
