Businesswoman running for 17th District Senate seat

DOVER ­— Republican Donyale Hall is set to officially announce her run for the 17th Senatorial District, joining two other candidates.

Jason Stewart, a fellow Republican, is seeking the seat, and Rep. Trey Paradee, D-Cheswold, is also running.

Incumbent Sen. Brian Bushweller, D-Dover, is not seeking re-election next year.

Ms. Hall will hold a campaign kickoff event on Nov. 6.

She owns several small businesses and works to promote women, people of color and disabled veterans. She is a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and has an MBA with a concentration in finance from Wilmington University.

Ms. Hall is a former member of the U.S. Air Force, the first vice president of the Central Delaware National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)and a board member of the Friends of Delaware Veterans.

“I believe strongly in solid education as a key element of success,” she said in a statement.

The 17th Senatorial District covers Dover and the Camden-Wyoming area and has been represented by Sen. Bushweller since 2008.
