Child care worker charged with sexually assaulting kids

HARRINGTON — A 27-year-old Houston man was charged after allegedly sexually assaulting children ages 4 and 5 while employed by Telemon Head Start as an aide, Harrington Police spokesman Capt. Earl K. Brode said.

The Division of Family Services contacted authorities in May about a possible sexual abuse case, prompting an investigation involving Harrington Police, Child Advocacy Center and Department of Justice.

Timothy K. McCrary was arrested Friday at his residence by Harrington and Delaware State Police, Capt. Brode said.

He was then transported to the Harrington PD for processing in connection with alleged separate incidents in May, police said.

Charges included three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust and a count of unlawful sexual contact where the victim is less than 13 years old.

Following video phone arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach, Mr. McCrary was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $235,000 cash only bond.

Capt. Brode said investigation continued and asked parents with concerns about their children or anyone with information to call 398-4493, ext. 12.
