Chipman Middle School teacher charged with sex offenses

DOVER — A Felton man was indicted this week for alleged sex offenses while teaching at W.T. Chipman Middle School in Harrington, according to court documents.

Richard C. Ford was 63 years old when arrested by Harrington Police regarding for allegedly touching juvenile students improperly, authorities announced at the time.

On Monday a Kent County Superior Court grand jury returned two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual contact, second-degree sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, authority or supervision and two counts of offensive touching. He earlier entered not guilty pleas.

The indictment alleged that incidents involving two students occurred between Dec. 7, 2018, and Jan. 22, 2019. Deputy Attorney General Alicia A. Porter is prosecuting the case.
