DelDOT takes in $2.8 million in tolls over holiday weekend

DOVER — Over the Fourth of July weekend, DelDOT said more than 1 million motorists passed through Delaware’s three toll plaza locations along I-95 in Newark, Del. 1 at Biddles Corner and Del. 1 in Dover.

On Friday through Monday I-95 Newark Plaza served 430,274 vehicles; Biddles Corner served 283,761 vehicles and Dover Plaza served 295,046 vehicles. That totals up to 1,009,081

DelDOT estimated that $2.8 million was collected from motorists in tolls during the four-day period at Delaware’s toll plazas.

More than 60 percent of the counted trips utilized an E-ZPass, the electronic toll collection system.
