Dover goes green for St. Patrick’s Day parade

DOVER — Green was the color of the day for those in Dover’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and those lining Loockerman Street Saturday afternoon.

The skies may not have been as sunny as earlier this week nor the temperatures as warm, but people gathered early for the 2 p.m. parade that included something for everyone: beauty queens, music, fire trucks, floats and horsepower — the two-legged kind and those with wheels.

Kids eagerly caught candy and politicians waved and shook hands.

The parade was a collaboration between the Downtown Dover Partnership, the city of Dover and the Dover Police Department.

If you missed Dover’s parade, Smyrna will celebrate wearing of the green Sunday. Lineup is at St. Polycarp’s Church and the parade begins at 1 p.m.
