Dover woman charged in stabbing investigation

DOVER – A 23-year-old Dover woman was charged with second-degree assault after allegedly stabbing a 49-year-old acquaintance in his home on Tuesday night, police said.

According to the Dover Police Department the incident occurred in the Bayard Apartments building at 200 W. Loockerman Street at approximately 8:14 p.m. and brought the arrest of Charisma Whaley, of the 100 block of S. New Street. Police said the man was stabbed in the back with a knife.

Police said a suspect was identified by the wounded man, and Ms. Whaley was taken into custody without incident at her home, police said.

Ms. Whaley was also charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. She was held at Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle in default of $15,000 cash bond.
