Golfers to tee up Habitat’s drive to build homes

LEWES — The 14th annual Sussex County Habitat for Humanity CommunityBuilder Golf Outing May 10 will bring together avid golfers and novices alike to contribute to the organization’s mission to build homes, communities and hope.

The event will be held at Midway Par 3 in Lewes.

This year, golfers will enjoy lunch catered by Bethany Blues and play to win prizes including Washington Nationals tickets, Baltimore Orioles tickets and foursomes at the area’s premier golf clubs.

Held in memory of Walt Jones, a longtime Sussex County Habitat supporter and local golfer, the golf outing has become an important fundraising event for the organization.

The annual golf outing has raised more than $300,000 for Sussex County Habitat to impact the county’s communities through affordable homeownership, neighborhood revitalization and financial literacy coaching.

“Having been involved since the golf outing’s inception, it is wonderful to see volunteers, golfers and sponsors have such a fun day while being able to help the amazing programs Habitat is involved with all over our county” said Jeanine O’Donnell, Sussex County Habitat board member and local State Farm insurance agent.

“The added sponsorship opportunities for local businesses this year are extremely valuable in providing huge visibility for such a reasonable investment! I urge anybody reading this to consider how they can help and call today.”

Money raised at the golf outing will go directly to help 800 people in Sussex County over the next two years through affordable home construction, neighborhood revitalization, community projects and financial coaching.

Team registrations of up to five golfers are still available.

Golfers can choose from two shotgun starts: 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available at multiple levels and provide a fun way to support Sussex County Habitat while promoting your business.

The CommunityBuilder Golf Outing continues the organization’s Annual Fund Campaign which will continue through 2019.
