Harrington Heritage Day, 5K Color Run set for this weekend

The 41st annual Harrington Heritage Day event will take place this weekend beginning with a community dinner Friday night and a color run and parade Saturday morning.

The dinner, held at the Harrington Volunteer Fire Company, serves as a celebration of the community ties held deeply within Harrington. Several groups and community members will be honored during the event. Tickets are $15 per adult or $7 per child. They can be purchased by contacting Doug Poore at 302-670-6158 or info@ghhsociety.org.

The 5K Color Run benefiting the fire department will begin at 7 a.m. Although registration is closed, spectators can come out to watch the colorful fun.

The Harrington Heritage Day parade begins at 9 a.m. from Lake Forest South Elementary School. It will wind its way around town followed by opening ceremonies at 9:45 a.m. from the Norman Barlow Pavillion next to the Harrington Police Department and Harrington Senior Center.

Harrington Heritage Day will run through 4 p.m. with live entertainment and activities for all ages. Around 8 p.m., attendees can enjoy a movie in the park with fireworks to follow. See the schedule for more details.
