Letter to the Editor: Georgetown park abandoned

One of the nicest public parks in Georgetown has been abandoned by Mayor West and the Georgetown Town Council. The public park on North Bedford Street has been stripped of its benches, tables and playground equipment.

Mayor West and the Town Council have ignored the needs and welfare of the town’s residents, especially its poorer residents and made a mockery of the town’s boast of being a “Tree City USA” with green amenities and shaded public areas.

It is hoped that our residents, our civic groups and our churches will do their part now to undo this mistake in judgment by Mayor West and the Town Council.
