Lincoln man charged in death of his son

LINCOLN — A 62-year-old Lincoln man was indicted in connection with his son’s shooting death last month, authorities said Wednesday.

David B. Chirdon turned himself in to Delaware State Police on Tuesday, one day after a grand jury returned manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony counts. Following arraignment at Sussex County Superior Court, he posted a $40,000 secured bond and was released.

On July 10, Brian Chirdon, 34, was found suffering from a gunshot wound after troopers were dispatched to a home in the 15000 block of Winner Circle at approximately 8:26 p.m., spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The call was described as a death investigation by authorities.

Brian Chirdon was initially taken to Sussex-Bayhealth Hospital in Milford and then died after transport to Christiana Hospital in Newark.
