Man held in shootings that damaged Dover homes, vehicles

Jaquell McDonald

DOVER — A 22-year-old Lincoln man was arrested just after midnight Thursday after separate shootings damaging multiple homes and vehicles, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The incidents occurred in the 100 block of Willis Road at approximately 10:01 p.m. Wednesday and the Manchester Square neighborhood at roughly 12:09 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said Jaquell McDonald was spotted fleeing from the second scene and taken into custody by patrol officers. A .40 caliber handgun was found in the area, along with a set of keys to a Ford F-150 that was seen in earlier cell phone photos, police said.

Officers were called to the first scene after a shots fired report and found that multiple vehicles and a residence were struck by gunfire. A gray Ford truck and a four-door sedan were seen in cell phone photos leaving just after the shots were fired, police said.
Witnesses described a black male with light-colored clothing as a suspect in the second incident, according to authorities.

Charges included possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of firearm by person prohibited, first-degree reckless endangering (six counts) and criminal mischief (five counts). Mr. McDonald was held at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $75,000 cash bond.
