Millsboro PD’s Citizen Police Academy starts Oct. 15

MILLSBORO – Millsboro Police Department will hold a Citizen’s Police Academy starting in October.

The academy, which is designed to give citizens an “inside look” at how the police department functions, is scheduled for Tuesday nights running Oct. 15 through Dec. 10.

Each evening class will be approximately two hours long. Topics will include: Court Room Procedures; Process of Becoming a Police Officer in Delaware; Crime Scene Processing; Judicial Proceedings as well as additional topics.

The class will also take a tour of the Sussex County Correctional Institute, Medical Examiner’s office and dispatch center.

Applicants must register for the academy by picking an application up at the police department or by visiting the department’s website at to download an application.

Early registration is encouraged due to limited seating. The deadline to submit applications is Oct. 1.
