Miss Newark named Miss Delaware 2017

LEWES – Miss Newark Chelsea Bruce was named Miss Delaware at the annual Miss Delaware Pageant held at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes Friday night.

Ms. Bruce is a junior at the University of Delaware where she studies Political Science and Economics. She is very

involved on her campus. She holds executive positions in the Hen Law Society and Alpha Phi Fraternity.

In addition to this, she is a member of Active Minds and a FYE Peer Mentor. She also works as a ballet instructor to young girls.

Her platform “Destigmatizing Mental Illness” and her talent was contemporary dance.

The pageant was held in the Lewes area this year after having been stationed at Dover Downs the past few years. Friday marked a return to the beach region where it was held for many years, most notably at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
