Racketeering trial to begin next week in Dover

DOVER — The trial of a 32-year-old Philadelphia man charged with racketeering as part of a widespread drug trafficking investigation bringing over a dozen arrests will begin on Nov. 14.

Abdul T. White is facing a felony charge based on an alleged offense on Aug. 22, 2015, according a Kent County Superior Court trial schedule. Judge Jeffrey Clark will preside over the matter.

Deputy Attorney General Lindsay Taylor will prosecute the case, with attorneys Edward Gill and Alex Funk representing Mr. White.

Also pending against Mr. White in a separate case is a first-degree murder charge regarding an alleged home invasion in Milford on Aug. 8, 2015. That matter is scheduled for trial in January 2017, and was listed as in a control status earlier this week.

In that case, Mr. White was also indicted on multiple counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree robbery, first- and second-degree kidnapping, first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, endangering the welfare of a child, first- and second-degree conspiracy, wearing a disguise, impersonating a police officer and criminal mischief.

Mr. White also faces person prohibited from possessing a firearm due to past felony convictions. He was indicted on 80 counts overall on Jan. 4.

Ms. Taylor and Deputy Attorney General Jason Cohee are listed as prosecuting the second case, with Mr. Clark and Mr. Gill representing Mr. White.

Mr. White is being held by the Delaware Department of Correction.
