Sen. Brian Pettyjohn, R-Georgetown, and Rep. Deborah Hudson, R-Hockessin, will work to promote Ms. Fiorina and develop a grassroots organization in the state.

Ms. Fiorina, the former chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard, announced in May she will pursue the Republican Party’s nomination for president. She spoke at the state Republican convention last month.

“The Republican Party has lacked candidates who are able to articulate a vision for our party,” Rep. Hudson said in a statement.

“The United States is facing ever increasing challenges across the globe that threaten our economy and, in some cases, our personal safety,” Sen. Pettyjohn agreed in a statement. “It is time for America to get tough with those who would threaten our way of life and that of our allies. Our country will regain its international leadership role when we keep our commitments and when we defend our values. I believe that Carly is the candidate to achieve this.”
