Snow falls in Delaware, Laurel schools on one hour delay

Delawareans awoke to snow this morning that could bring a messy commute and led the Laurel School District to delay the start of school by an hour.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of Delaware today and tonight, forecasting up to an inch of snow accumulation through morning. “Bands of heavier snow are possible and may impact this morning’s commute,” the advisory read.

According to the DEOS monitoring system, most of Delaware had little accumulation as of 6:30 a.m. Woodside had the most with .6 inches and Dover, Harrington, Ellendale areas followed closely with .4 inches.

The weather service called for a high of 40 degrees today with a low of 27 tonight.
