Substitute teacher accused of offensive touching in Laurel

LAUREL – A 45-year-old Seaford man employed as a substitute teacher faces an offensive touching charge stemming from a complaint filed by the mother of a Laurel Middle School student in March.

Michael Luciano, 45, was hired by the Laurel School District 10 days prior to the incident as a substitute teacher, Laurel Police Department spokesman Det. Tyler Bryan said

While acting in his official capacity, Mr. Luciano during school hours allegedly offensively touched a juvenile, causing alarm.

Notified of the incident, the Laurel School District took immediate action to terminate Mr. Luciano’s employment, Det. Bryan said.

Laurel police concluded their investigation June 6 and charged Mr. Luciano with offensive touching. Mr. Luciano turned himself in to the Laurel police without incident. Mr. Luciano was released on $500 unsecured bond and ordered to have no unsupervised contacted with anyone under the age of 18 years old.
