Third Thursday offers variety of special events in downtown Milford

MILFORD — Businesses in downtown Milford will be taking sales to the sidewalks for this month’s Third Thursday event, which takes place this week.

Walnut Street will be closed to vehicle traffic, several stores will be hosting special events and will remain open until 8 p.m., and food trucks will be available to appease a variety of appetites at Third Thursday.

Attendees are invited to wear their “Shop Local” buttons to receive a 15-percent discount at participating stores.

As part of Third Thursday this month, The Chronicle will host Sarah Culler, program and outreach manager for Keep Delaware Beautiful.

The public will have an opportunity to meet and talk to Ms. Culler from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the newspaper’s office at 37A N. Walnut St.

“We are delighted to have Sarah Culler as our guest for Third Thursday,” said Darel La Prade, publisher of The Chronicle. “Anyone interested in learning more about this program should drop by and chat with Sarah. We look forward to hosting a special guest each Third Thursday as our contribution to the event.”

Other businesses hosting special events include:
· Blooming Boutique will be hosting a Luau Party with a Simply Southern sidewalk sale, with rum punch and more. Visitors can meet Lisa Marino, the new store manager.

· Dolce Bakery & Coffee Shop is featuring musicians Gregory and Garrison Makosky and will honor a 15-percent discount on ice cream for button wearers.

· Gallery 37: A Destination for Artful Living will have an informal wine reception and book signing of White Horses by Linda Blaskey, a Milford High School graduate who lives in Lincoln, at 6 p.m.

· Lifecycle Lot Party will feature Kam Productions Pop Up Shop; Nolah’s Handmade Tie Dye Pop Up Shop; Karibbean Grill BBQ food truck; Speed Limit 18 band; Messy art, water games, activities; Mispillion River Brewing beer at $5 a can; Amity Coffee Roasters Cold Brew Coffee 16-ounce cup for $4. Guests are invited to bring chairs to relax on.

· King’s Ice Cream will be serving many favorite flavors of ice cream.

· Nancy’s Café “Olive + Lemon” will have homemade blueberry gelato and Nancy’s famous French Brioche Bread Pudding.

· The Music School of Delaware will be open with an information table about summer programs.

· Irish Rose, Red Bandana, Maggie’s Antiques & Friends and Blooming Boutique will also host sidewalk sales.

This month’s Third Thursday is also right in the middle of the Mispillion Art League’s Silent Auction of 6-by-6-inch works of art. Opening bids are $25 and bidding will continue until 8 p.m. on June 22.

Other food trucks at this week’s Third Thursday event include Zaikka Indian Grill, 5 Star BBQ & Bakery and Mr. BBQ.
