Third Thursday to celebrate Milford’s 231st birthday

MILFORD — Downtown Milford, Inc. is planning a party to top them all tonight as the organization celebrates Milford’s 231st birthday during Third Thursday.

From 5 until 8 p.m. today, businesses in the heart of Milford will be open with extended hours. Shoppers, visitors, and attendees are encouraged to wear town pride on their sleeve by donning maroon and gold — Milford’s hometown school colors — as they celebrate.

For residents and visitors who don’t have maroon and gold attire, Milford High School students will be in town selling school district apparel from 5 to 7 p.m. (cash or check only) in the farmer’s market area.

To capture the colorful spirit of the community, a town photo will be taken at 7:15 p.m. by drone along the Riverwalk between Washington Street and the Santa House.

In addition to the town photo, attendees will have the opportunity to light and hold a candle while singing Happy Birthday. A ceremonial cake cutting will take place in the farmers market area by Milford Mayor Archie Campbell. Mini cupcakes by Sweet Tia’s Bakery, sponsored by Milford LIVE, will be available to the first 200 attendees. The Milford Museum will be also open, unveiling its new 2019 Milford calendar.
