Two found dead in home near Hartly

HARTLY — Two people were found dead inside a residence late Tuesday morning, Delaware State Police said later in the day.

According to spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, investigation began after troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 4000 block of Arthursville Road for a check on the welfare of residents at approximately 11:27 a.m.

Upon arrival two persons were located in the residence deceased.

The bodies were turned over to the Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the manner and cause of death, state police said.

The victims’ identity were being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

The investigation into this incident by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing. Further information will be released at a later time, police said.

Out of caution, Hartly Elementary School went on lockdown status as police investigated the situation, a Capital School District spokeswoman said.
