Wilmington man charged in Dover shooting incident

DOVER — An 18-year-old Wilmington man was arrested in connection with an Aug. 11 shooting incident that left a woman with a graze wound, authorities said.

Zion Saunders was apprehended on Friday after a vehicle pursuit at approximately 8:30 p.m., Dover Police spokesman Mark Hoffman said. Mr. Saunders was a known suspect when seen by police in the area of South New and Reed streets, according to police.

Police used stop sticks to successfully deflate tires on Mr. Saunders’s vehicle. He physically resisted arrest until restrained by officers, police said.

A 26-year-old woman was treated and released from the hospital on Aug. 11 after a suffering a minor would to her lower body after several shots were fired at approximately 2:45 a.m., authorities said.

Mr. Saunders was held at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in lieu of $26,100 secured bond.
