Newshound is the official mascot of the Delaware State News.

He was born in 1993 on the 40th anniversary of the newspaper. “Newsy” spends his time traveling around Downstate Delaware to add to the festivities at a multitude of community events, including Wings and Wheels in Georgetown, the Apple-Scrapple Festival in Bridgeville, the Hummers Parade in Middletown, Kidsfest in Harrington, Bug and Bud Festival in Milford and Dover Days in the state capital, to name just a few.

You never know where he will pop up, so be sure to watch for him and say, “Hey, Newshound!”

If you’d like to ask Newshound to appear at your event, e-mail with the details.

Visit Newshound’s Flickr Page to see more photos.

You can also download the Newshound coloring book, instructions for making a kite or a pressman’s hat from a newspaper, and a cut-out Newshound mask.
