LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Evil begets evil

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer incorrectly misspoke when the comments he made in not comparing Germany’s Fuehrer, Adolph Hitler of Germany, to the current President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, were assuredly wrong. His advisement that even A.H. had not utilized chemical weapons on his own people was an outright falsehood. The dastardly acts committed during the Holocaust against [those] whom the Third Reich considered “undesirables” was an attempt to assassinate an entire race of its population.

The irony of his conception of these horrors of travesty to life is that there was a time in Hitler’s life when he was adamantly against the use of any form of chemical warfare. As a corporal during WWI, he was blinded by the effects of mustard gas. However, his overwhelming excessive hatred for the Jews, homosexuals and Gypsies in all of Europe overrode any sense of humanity and compassion for anyone he deemed to damage the Aryan race. Hence, his Final Solution was unveiled with the dedicated devotion of Heinrich Himmler and Reinhard Heydrich (who was finally assassinated in Prague), and completed their evil task with the use of the chemical agent Zyklon B. Their ability to murder defenseless victims in the tens of thousands at a time was truly the most deplorable and despicable acts ever enacted by any group in history.

That said, in today’s tumultuous, violent world, we are still faced with evil that is perpetrated by other powerful demagogues who envision themselves above any sense of human morality or sanctity of life. They continue to perpetrate atrocities against their own people. These people must be stopped [from] performing their continued disregard for human life. A perfect example of this brutality to their innocent victims, men, women and children, lies within the Assad regime in Syria.

Their denial of any responsibility to these immoral acts only resonates within their own borders. The world knows the truth: that they are the sponsors of destruction. The only nations that may accept Assad’s wrongful assertions that the Syrian government forces are not guilty would be Russia and/or Iran. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and President Trump are working with both Russia and China to enable the United States [in] gaining some ground to halt the dangers surrounding all our environments.

When President Trump drew his line in the sand warning Syria to change their dangerous ways, it truly meant something. He called airstrikes against the Syrian airfields that launched the horrific events of murder by Syrian forces against their innocent victims – completely unlike his predecessor, who drew his line in the sand to warn Syria, and the “sand” blew right back in his face, so, absolutely nothing was accomplished. Par for the Obama course!

The United States slinked away, leaving Assad “as is” to perform, upon his will, any affliction, injury or death to the innocents. President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry left very difficult problems for the new administration of President Trump to contend with. He’s being true to his word and doing all within his power to rectify the major obstacles that were left to him for resolution in President Obama’s wake of wrongdoing! We must assure our president that Americans will have his back in succeeding the elimination of these enormous problems.

May God always bless the United States of America.
