Letter to the Editor: A Firefly thank you from Dover International Speedway

As we celebrate the success of the eighth annual Firefly Music Festival, it seems appropriate to extend a thank you to everyone that consistently plays a role in making the magic of the Woodlands at Dover International Speedway come alive on a worldwide stage.

Collectively, our Dover International Speedway team, community and state are all fortunate to have AEG Presents (producer of Firefly Music Festival) as our partner and host for Firefly. AEG is the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company and if you were able to attend the June 21-23 events, you certainly would understand why they are the worldwide leader. They certainly are THE most important link to making this all happen.

The cooperation that we receive from all of the local, state and regional public safety agencies, service providers, vendors and employees is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when everyone is focused on achieving the same goals and objectives.

While no major music festival can escape without miscellaneous incidents occurring in and around the property, once again the extraordinary efforts of our entire public safety and security teams kept the amount of these minor mishaps to a reasonable minimum.

We all look forward to future Firefly Music Festivals and the magic that is created every year in The Woodlands. We also look forward to seeing everyone Oct. 4-6 as we continue to celebrate our 50th anniversary of the Monster Mile and play host to our 100th NASCAR Cup Series race.
