LETTER TO THE EDITOR: CPR course was informative

On Thursday May 17, 2018, I had the pleasure of attending a CPR/First Aid Awareness seminar at the Dover Police Station presented by Dover City Councilman Brian Lewis and some of his colleagues from the Delaware Department of Correction.

The seminar provided basic introductory information on providing first aid and CPR for the average untrained citizen.

Councilman Lewis was passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter. He not only provided answers to questions, but also provided the opportunity for attendees to have some hands on experience using the training mannequins and the AED simulator.

He explained that the seminar was an introductory information session and provided everyone with the opportunity to sign up for a full CPR provider course.

I think it is commendable that someone in public office donates their time to educate the public on the importance of having the basic First Aid/CPR knowledge to better help their neighbors in need.

I look forward to attending the certification course as well as other training opportunities that are available in the future. This is the kind of outreach that more public officials should practice as it serves as a means to bring the community together as one.
