LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Democrats’ playbook on Trump getting old

Drip, Drip, Drip. That’s what I was hearing when I read Rebecca Scarborough’s opinion piece in Tuesday’s State News. (“Defending our American democracy”)

The same ole, same ole rhetoric from you folks on the left just continue to amaze me. Your playbook reminds me of a cartoon character that bets on a game and loses. He comes back to the bar the next day and places the same wager and loses again. The following day he comes in and places the same wager. Finally they ask him why he placed the same wager on the same game three days in a row. His response, I think they learned their lesson and will play differently.

Nothing, and let me repeat, nothing you say, with all your misguided rhetoric and false beliefs will steer the supporters of Donald Trump from supporting his policies. Is he flawed? Yes. We all are. As the Bible says, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Was he the first choice to most of us to be president? No. But he was a much better choice than Hillary Clinton. If the FBI would get off their backsides and look at the true collusion, she’d already be on her way to prison. But we can’t investigate that; we’re too busy trying to overturn a legitimate election.

After 18-plus months, what do we have? A dozen indictments against people for things they did 10-15 years ago. Long before the presidential election. Long before these people even knew each other.

You want to talk about lying to the American people. Let’s talk about just a few that our past president put out there. “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” “Taking out the credit card from the Bank of China. Running up the national debt. It’s unpatriotic, it’s un-American.” “If Syria uses chemical weapons on its own people, that would be a RED line for me.” And the one that I personally will never forgive of Hilary Clinton, for, “It was all about a video.” All things said, and the sheep said nothing. So please don’t bring up this nonsense about lying to the American people and be one-sided about it.

As for the rest of your opinion, by all means, go to the polls in November. It’s time we look at a replacement for Tom Carper. He voted for the disaster called “Obama Care.” He voted against the tax cut that most of the working class in the country will enjoy. He voted against the president’s choice for Supreme Court. He’s voted against most of the court appointments that have come up for a vote under this administration. Why? I suspect because the Senate minority leader told him to. He’s a “get in line candidate” and does as he’s told.

Show me the votes where he goes against his own party. He throws a bone to his constituents from time to time, especially come election time. Then it’s “Look at me. See what I’m doing.” President Trump is doing exactly what he said he’d do for the American people, and we’re prospering because of it.

Manufacturing is returning after years of decline. I have family and friends in the Midwest that tell me steel plants that have been idle for years are cranking up production.

I’d just like to see the people give this man a chance. If it’s proven that he did something wrong and it was an impeachable offense, I’ll be one of the people asking for his resignation. We’ve had 28 years of bad leadership under both Democratic and Republican presidents.

Finally, a president who is putting the American people first in the decisions he makes. God bless the USA and President Trump.
