Letter to the Editor: New flag law should be observed

A new law, signed last recently by the president after bipartisan and unanimous consent of the House and Senate (meaning no one objected and all 535 elected members of Congress agreed on the same thing), took effect Nov. 7 and now requires, amongst other buildings, for all United States federal post offices, to now fly the MIA/POW flag along with the U.S. flag at all times.

“The National POW/MIA Flag Act will ensure that the POW/MIA Flag is displayed whenever the U.S. flag is displayed, effectively ensuring that both flags are displayed concurrently and every day at federal locations already designated under existing law.

“Those locations include the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, every national cemetery, the buildings containing the official offices of the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Veterans Affairs, the office of the Director of the Selective Service System, each major military installation (as designated by the Secretary of Defense), each Department of Veterans Affairs medical center, and each United States Postal Service post office.”

In short, when will the post offices in Delaware acknowledge the new Law and start displaying the MIA/POW Flag over their respective Federal Offices throughout Delaware! Thank you for your attention to this matter and I hope this is newsworthy as the White House, Pentagon and other facilities, designated above, are now flying the MIA/POW flag as required.
