Letter to the Editor: No free ride

What an interesting time we’re living in. Campaigning for the office of president is really going strong now and we can hear from the candidates what their plans for the future hold for us. I note that a great many youngsters are overjoyed by the prospect of free college and Medicare for all. If I had the chance I would ask those that see this as a great idea: “Where will the money come from?” So, some will answer: “Oh, the government will pay!”

To these youngsters and others I would point out that, although you may enjoy free college, how will you feel later when you become part of the working class and half or more of your paycheck is taken for taxes? You/we will all pay sooner or later. Neither college or Medicare will ever be free.
