Letter to the Editor: Outten endorses Morris

Dear Constituent:

For the last 14 years, it has been my privilege to serve the citizens of the 30th Representative District.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking back to when I first came to Legislative Hall to replace the late Bobby Quillen. Bobby was loved in our community and respected at Legislative Hall because he always placed the welfare of his constituents first. Since 2004, I have tried to follow in his footsteps and serve our community to the best of my ability.

As I prepare to retire, I am pleased to be able to endorse a man who I believe will serve our community every bit as well as those who came before him.

William “Shannon” Morris is a reflection of all the best things about the people that live in the 30th District. As a lifelong Delawarean and a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, he has roots here.

He also shares our community’s conservative values. Shannon knows what it is like to work for a living, believes family farms must be maintained, and currently lives on land where his grandfather once grew corn and soybeans.

In a world that too often wants to enact laws in reaction to the latest headlines, Mr. Morris will defend our federal and state constitutional rights to keep firearms for the protection of our homes, hunting and recreation.

In short, I believe Shannon Morris is a good man who would serve our community well in the new 150th General Assembly and beyond. I am voting for him on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and I respectfully urge you to consider supporting him as well.

Bobby Outten
30th District State Representative

Republican William “Shannon” Morris faces Democrat Charles Groce for the 30th District State Representative seat.
