LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Support for Louie Phillips

Louie Phillips is running against 24-year Senator Colin Bonini. You may not remember, but Bonini ran on term limits.

Louie Phillips is going to bring fresh ideas to Dover. She is going to bring representation to the Delawareans living in the southeast corner of Kent County that has been sorely missing for these last 24 years.

Mrs. Phillips knows how to work with people to get the job done. She has years of experience in the healthcare field, working with patients to navigate their health insurance options. Delawareans from Dover to Milford and from Camden to Bowers need Louie Phillips.

Bonini is a past employee and graduate of Wesley College. He has committed the next three years of his DelDOT provided Community Transportation Fund to projects that helped give the old Dover Library to the college for $1. Six years ago, he committed his funds to Wesley to transform the campus into a walking campus. Let me be clear, Wesley College is not in his 16th Senate District. These funds are better spent on fixing sections of roads, sidewalks, entrance signs, or electronic speed limit signs in Star Hill, South Bowers, Viola, and Little Creek. The ironic part of this? Bonini does all this using Epilogue Language in the annual Delaware Budget Bill, which he then consistently votes against.

He has made promises to the Frederica Senior Center to help pave their parking lot. This is an empty promise as all of his funding for the next three years is tied up in projects in the City of Dover.

I can guarantee you this: Louie Phillips representing the 16th Senate District will not let any of this to continue. She is going to represent those living in her District. She is going to work with other legislators and Levy Court Commissioners to ensure that those living in her district get her full attention, and not some previous employer as your current Senator does.

George “Jody” Sweeney

Commissioner
