A partial federal shutdown took hold early Saturday after Democrats refused to meet President Trump’s demands for $5 billion to start erecting a security wall on the Mexico border.

• If Trump wants a wall, let him show those negotiating skills he says he has by living up to his campaign promise that Mexico pay for it. — Kathy Spring Jordan

• You’re seeing it at this very minute as he shuts down the government. This is in addition to voiding NAFTA and negotiating a new agreement which Mexico and Canada signed through their tears. Tired of winning yet? — Chris Wolfe

• Individual 1 claimed earlier this year that border security caught 10 terrorists trying to illegally cross the border into America. So, if he was telling the truth, they are doing a helluva job and there is no need for a wall. — Gary Greer

• There is a bill on Trump’s desk to fund the government without border wall funding which he refuses to sign. How is this not Trump’s fault? He literally told the world it would be his fault 10 days ago. — Bradley Anderson
